Storyboarding in eLearning

« Back to Glossary Index

Storyboarding in eLearning is the process of planning and visually outlining an online course before actual development begins.

It’s similar to a movie storyboard — but instead of scenes and camera shots, an eLearning storyboard shows the structure, flow, and content of each screen or learning interaction.

Storyboarding helps everyone involved (instructional designers, subject matter experts, and developers) agree on the course design before production starts. It ensures the course is clear, cohesive, and aligned with learning goals — saving time and reducing costly revisions later.
