Adaptive Quizzing

« Back to Glossary Index

Adaptive quizzing is a type of assessment that automatically adjusts the difficulty and sequence of questions based on the learner’s performance in real time.

How It Works

  • The quiz starts with a question of medium difficulty.
  • If the learner answers correctly → the next question becomes harder.
  • If the learner answers incorrectly → the next question becomes easier.
  • The system continually adapts to match the learner’s skill level.

The Goal

Adaptive quizzing aims to:

  • Measure a learner’s knowledge more accurately
  • Prevent frustration from questions that are too difficult
  • Avoid boredom from questions that are too easy
  • Provide a personalized learning experience
  • Identify knowledge gaps quickly

Adaptive quizzes give a far more precise picture of a learner’s true competency compared to a traditional one-size-fits-all quiz.
